Laura Brown, Orange County Yoga Terric Instructor discussing how she came to Yoga.

Laura Brown - started practicing yoga as a form of cross training while training for her first marathon, and grew to appreciate the calming and centering effects it had on her life outside of running. As a social worker working with trauma issues for more that 15 years, she developed an interest in the connection between the mind, the body, and the emotions. Yoga became a way of exploring that connection on a personal level. Laura continues to explore the mind, body, emotion connection through her running and yoga, and loves to share her discoveries with others. Laura recently completed the Yoga Works 200 hour teacher training in Orange County instructed by Carmen Fitzgibben, Thomas Taubman and Michelle Mckay. Laura can be reached for assesments and personalized instruction through customer_support@yogaterric.com or directly at laura@yogaterric.com.

Christine in virabhadrasana2

Christine Tanabe - Yoga initially came into Christine's life as a "trendy" thing to do. She had many friends who were actors and dancers and yoga just seemed the logical next step in building her performance skills. However, the high yoga gave her was unexpected and Christine was hooked. After practicing yoga for a few years, she found the instruction she was receiving in studio classes was simply not enough to answer all the questions which arose during practice. She decided to delve deeper into the true nature of yoga with the 200 Hour Yogaworks Teacher Training in early 2008. Christine was always conscious of how enriched she felt after taking yoga, particularly when the present yoga teacher/guide truly gave guidance. "I believe that yoga enriches and fulfills many aspects of life." "Yoga gives me a logical and compassionate approach to life, and allows me to experience mental peace and emotional balance, as it builds physical strength and increased flexibility." "It just feels so good, I want to share this with everyone!" Christine is currently taking private clients and can be reached at Christine@yogaterric.com.

Follow Holly being Yogic

Holly Mosier - It only took that first yoga class in 2000 to hook her.  She walked out of it feeling like she had had a massage, yet with astounding additional benefits – the racing thoughts were gone, and in their place was a peace of mind and ease of movement.  Ever since, yoga has become an essential part of Holly’s life and fitness regime.  Her first year of studying yoga was as a student in a 6-person Iyengar class, where the focus was proper alignment in the poses.  Then Holly found Marlene Geoghan, under whom she studied Ashtanga yoga (a vigorous, athletic style of practice) for four years.  This faster, “vinyasa flow” type of yoga practice, which provides a cardiovascular workout while building strength and flexibility, has remained Holly’s focus and infuses her teaching.  Holly completed the 200-hour teacher training program through Yoga Works yoga studio in March, 2008.  To learn more about Holly’s full approach to health and fitness, visit her popular website at www.FollowHolly.com

Diane Sutton, Orange County Yoga Terric Instructor beams as she tells us of her love of yoga.

Diane Sutton - It was love at first class! A friend of mine ntroduced me to yoga in 2003.  I'd always wondered about yoga but thought it would be slow, boring and, quite frankly, for strange' people.  How wrong I was! For most of my adult life I had worked out in the gym. I had also taught aerobics and fitness classes. However, when I took my first yoga class, I knew this was the missing ingredient from my life. There is nothing so sweet as that moment when your mind, body, breath are working in harmony. My body has become stronger and more supple. It has also been key to rehabilitating my body after surgery. I have practised various styles of yoga but have a particular interest in Viniyoga, Vinyasa Flow and Restorative.  I have so far undertaken the Yoga Works 200-hour  Teacher Training. I am looking forward to learning so much more and helping others to discover how splendid yoga is! Please feel free to email at diane@yogaterric.com.

Truly one of Yoga Terrics most present and serene instructors, Lina Goh, during a meditative moment.

Lina Goh - My interest in teaching yoga is twofold. I want to make yoga accessible to busy people whether they be professionals, entrepreneurs or executives who do not have the time, luxury or desire to go to a yoga studio but want to reap the benefits of yoga by incorporating it in their daily exercise routine. I specialize in creating sequences and postures that can be easily integrated in one’s daily routine. Another area of interest is I want to bring the universal spirit and energy back into yoga by incorporating mudras, mantras, meditation, and chakra dance to the practice. I also make energetic yoga jewelry that can be worn during practice. For more information email lina@yogaterric.com.

Miyuki, a Japanese born Yogi now practising and teaching yoga in orange county demonstrates a headstand

Miyuki Sunahata - started her spiritual journey in her early twenties, searching the meaning of life and the purpose of her own existence.  She tried to find the answers through trips abroad to places like India. After serving several years as an office worker in Japan, she came to the United States to further her education.  After graduating from college, she moved to California, and here her spiritual search has started again.  She began to practice yoga in 2001 after having her first baby.  Most of the time, she practiced with Hanh Nguyen, who has studied with Dharma Mitra, Shiva Rea, David Swenson and Cyndee Lee. Hanh’s teachings led Miyuki to deeper insights about the practice of yoga.  After Hanh’s relocation, Miyuki started to study Anusara yoga, which emphasizes “alignment principles and heart-oriented tantric philosophy.”  Miyuki’s journey to more fully understand the meaning of life still continues.

Jaime Oldham, YogaTerric Personal Instructor at his favorite orange county yoga spot performing sukasana.

Jaime Oldham - came to yoga later in life seeking a conclusion to what had become a protracted rehabilitation from shoulder surgery. He soon realized the true power of yoga to be transformation rather than rehabilitation, and he eventually became a teacher to welcome beginners to the transformation. He is grateful for the encouragement and guidance received from different teachers along the way, but recognizes fellow students and classmates as his most inspirational teachers. Jaime sees yoga as an elegantly simple process that builds flexible strength in the spirit as well as the body, and believes it is the key to aging gracefully. He focuses his practice on the power of breath, kindness and honesty in the postures, conquering resistance through faith, and smiling externally while laughing internally. He continues to search for the punch line to the one about the three yogis walking into a bar. He can be reached at jaime@yogaterric.com.

Yoga Pete enjoying some beach yoga

Peter Karpiuk - After a lifetime of "yang" sports including hockey and marathoning Peter sought yoga as a way to sustain fitness and heal injuries that prevented him from enjoying many of his physical activities. "As so many have found, my first experience with yoga ignited a passion." Over the last 6 years, he has yet to find a yogi(ni) or asana style he doesn't like but is drawn to the Iyengar method with it's focus on alignment and precision. In practise and in teaching Peter's focus is to release the 'immense joy and laughter" that emerges from a strong and flexible body and mind. "Yoga is truly a life transforming art that can foster growth and enjoyment in every aspect of ones life." Peter is one of the founding members of the YogaTerric group and can be contacted directly at: peter@yogaterric.com.
